Hand Rejuvenation Treatment

Youthful Hands, Timeless Beauty

What is Hand Rejuvenation Treatment?

Our hands tell a story, often revealing our age more than any other part of our body. Over time, hands naturally lose volume, develop sun spots, and show signs of aging, such as prominent veins and wrinkles. At Skin Works Medical Spa in Torrance, we specialize in cutting-edge hand rejuvenation treatments that restore a youthful appearance, smooth texture, and fuller volume to your hands.

Why Hand Rejuvenation?

Hand rejuvenation treatments target common concerns such as volume loss, age spots, sun damage, and visible veins or tendons. These cosmetic treatments help you achieve smoother, younger-looking hands without surgery or significant downtime. By revitalizing your hands, you not only restore a youthful appearance but also enhance your confidence.

Top Hand Rejuvenation Treatments

1. IPL Photofacial for Hands

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatments effectively reduce sun spots, pigmentation issues, and age spots on the back of the hands. This non-invasive procedure uses broad-spectrum light to target areas of excess pigmentation caused by sun exposure or aging, stimulating collagen production and evening out skin tone. IPL Photofacial also improves the overall texture of the skin, leaving your hands looking smoother and more youthful. For optimal results, IPL can be combined with other treatments for comprehensive hand rejuvenation.

2. Radiesse for Hand Volume Restoration

Radiesse is a leading dermal filler for hand rejuvenation, designed to restore volume to hands that have lost fullness due to aging. Radiesse works by injecting calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres into the hands, stimulating natural collagen production and creating a smoother, plumper appearance. The results of Radiesse typically last up to 15 months, providing long-term rejuvenation and reducing the prominence of veins, tendons, and wrinkles on the back of the hands.

3. Restylane Lyft for Fuller, Youthful Hands

Restylane Lyft is another popular dermal filler option for hand rejuvenation, particularly for those looking to reduce the visibility of bones, veins, and wrinkles. This hyaluronic acid-based filler restores volume and enhances the skin’s hydration, resulting in smoother, more youthful hands. Ideal for patients over 21, Restylane Lyft provides natural-looking results that reverse the signs of aging in the hands.

4. Fractional CO2 Laser Resurfacing

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing is a highly effective method for treating wrinkles, age spots, and sun damage on the hands. This treatment works by delivering controlled laser energy into the skin, which stimulates collagen production and promotes the growth of new, healthy skin cells. Combining fractional CO2 laser therapy with fillers such as Radiesse or Restylane can yield dramatic results, effectively resurfacing the hands while restoring lost volume.

The Benefits of Hand Rejuvenation

Hand rejuvenation treatments are minimally invasive, often requiring little to no downtime. These procedures provide a natural way to enhance your hands’ appearance, making them smoother and more youthful. Most importantly, the results are long-lasting and customizable to fit your specific aesthetic goals.

FAQ

Tap on a question to see more!

What is hand rejuvenation?

Hand rejuvenation involves using Injectable fillers and skin resurfacing techniques when the signs of aging begin to appear to combat age-related changes, including volume loss, saggy skin, fine lines, and volume loss. Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatments can help eliminate discolorations and dark spots on the hands.

Is hand rejuvenation safe?

Yes! As long as they are FDA-OK! IPL treatments are safe for individuals with skin that is Fitzpatrick type 1-4; however, individuals with Fitzpatrick skin types 5 or 6 are not candidates for treatment.

How should I prepare for my treatment?

Schedule a free consultation! During your consultation, a medical professional will evaluate the areas of your hands that concern you. You will learn about your treatment options, results, possible complications, and follow-up care you may need. Do not drink alcohol or take multivitamins, St John’s Wort, aspirin, Ibuprofen, vitamin E, or blood thinners for one week before filler treatment to decrease the risk of bruising. For an IPL treatment, avoid using Retinols 3 days before and avoid prolonged sun exposure. If you have a new tan, you may have to postpone treatment.

How long does will my hand rejuventaion treatment take?

Treatment with Radiesse usually takes a few minutes. IPL treatment can take between 15 and 30 minutes.

How does hand rejuvenation treatment with fillers feel?

Typically, the only feeling experienced during a filler treatment will be a small prick. Our medical experts insert the needle with medical precision to ensure that the treatment is as painless as possible.

Is getting a hand rejuvenation treatment painful?

If you are very sensitive to pain, you may want to have a numbing cream applied to the treatment area during treatment. This will ensure that no sensation will be experienced during the injection. Most people typically receive treatment without numbing cream as they describe the treatments as causing little to no pain.

How soon can I expect results?

Results are typically seen instantly with injectable fillers. Results from IPL treatment are typically seen within 1 to 2 weeks.

What kind of results can I expect?

Medical Professionals use fillers with medical precision to reduce the appearance of folds, wrinkles, or creases on your hands. Injectable fillers do precisely what their name says: They fill the area and create a “fuller” appearance, making tendons and veins less noticeable. However, IPL creates a clearer complexion with an even skin tone once pigmentation lightens.

Will I need time to recover after injectable fillers?

Some people may want a few days to recover from minor swelling and bruising after filler treatment. After an IPL treatment, you may notice the treatment area get slightly darker before lightening. This can result in some “social downtime” until your skin lightens.

How many treatments will I have to get?

During your free consultation, a medical professional will assess the area to determine how many treatments you may need. If more than one treatment is necessary, we will discuss it with you. For fillers, one syringe per hand is usually enough. For IPL treatments, most individuals are happy with results after one session; however, 3 treatments are usually recommended to get your ideal clear, bright skin.

Are results permanent?

Results from injectable fillers are temporary and must be touched up to maintain results. Treatments with Radiesse usually last 9 to 12 months and help to stimulate collagen production, reducing the amount of filler you will need with future treatments. Results from IPL treatments are permanent; however, pigmentation can return for various reasons, including sun exposure. Multiple treatments may be recommended for specific individuals.

Will my results look natural?

Definitely! When fillers are done right, they will look natural and take years off the appearance of your hands! IPL treatments will make your skin look more even and natural! At Skin Works Med Spa, you can expect your treatments to be done by a skilled and highly trained medical professional that will enhance your features naturally and subtly.

Why should I get a hand rejuvenation treatment?

Our medical experts use Radisse to make your hands look younger! This is an important area overlooked, as many of us focus on treating problematic areas on our faces. Our hands can give away our actual age even if our face doesn’t! This amazing procedure will make your hands look years younger.

Whom are hand rejuvenation treatments recommended for?

Anyone that wants to have tighter, more evenly toned, smoother skin on the hands. Clients are typically at least in their mid to late 20s. It always pays to look your best in the professional world, so it is an option for all genders!

Who should not get hand rejuvenation treatments?

Do not get treatments with fillers or IPL if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Furthermore, if you have an infection near or at the desired treatment site or plan to work out on the day of treatment. Do not get treatment if you are planning to drink alcohol the night before or the day of your appointment or to take multivitamins, St John’s Wort, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, high doses of vitamin E, or blood thinners one week before treatment. You may not be a candidate for IPL treatments if you have very tan or dark skin. If you have an active herpes breakout or have used Accutane within the last 6 months, do not get IPL treatments. Individuals with a history of seizures are advised of the bright light at the beginning of treatment and, depending on seizure history, may be advised against treatment.

What are the side effects of hand rejuvenation treatments?

The most common side effects of filler treatments are swelling, bruising, or discomfort, which typically resolves within 48 to 72 hours of treatment. Discomfort can be managed with numbing cream during the procedure. For IPL treatments, there are little to no side effects; however, redness at the treatment site is common. Areas of pigmentation may darken before becoming lighter. These areas can be covered with makeup or tinted sunscreen.

Will I be able to attend an event or travel after hand rejuventaion?

Due to the possibility of swelling or bruising with fillers, it is generally not recommended to have your treatment right before an important event. It is absolutely fine to travel or return to work if you feel up to it! Since the treatment area can darken immediately following treatment, we recommend that IPL treatments occur 2 to 4 weeks before any important event you attend.
