Incobotulinumtoxin A (Xeomin®) is an extremely purified, naturally occurring protein that has the ability to relax the facial muscles to which it is injected, and help disappear moderate to severe frown lines. Xeomin is an FDA approved drug and is similar to BOTOX® and Dysport®, which also uses the Botulinum A protein. Xeomin treatments work by blocking nerve impulses to temporarily relax the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a refreshed, even and younger appearance. You can expect to see results from Xeomin treatments within 5 days. This relaxation generally lasts for 3 months, and then the treated muscles slowly return to their baseline. To maintain the effects of any wrinkle relaxing treatment, injections should be repeated every three to four months.

Dysport® is approved to be injected into the muscles in the Glabella area (between the eyebrows) which improves the look of moderate to severe lines in between the brows. It can also be injected in additional areas of the face. Dysport® is a quick, easy and effective temporary treatment with little or no downtime. Improvement in the appearance of lines and wrinkles typically begin within 24-48 hours and may increase during the first week after treatment. In order to maintain results, treatments should consistently be performed every 3-4 months.

What is Botox?

Botox is an FDA approved non/minimally-invasive product used to treat wrinkles and lines around the eyes, forehead, and in between the eyebrows. It has been used since the 1980s as an easy, quick rejuvenation treatment. It should only be administered by a licensed health care professional.

How does Botox work?

Botox is injected into the muscle to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by modulating and softening the action of the muscle.

What is Botox typically used for?

Botox is usually used to treat lines and wrinkles; however, it can be used for many other things including making the jawline look thinner, decreasing teeth grinding, treating excessive sweating in the underarms or hands, and tightening loose skin in the neck.

Who can receive Botox?

Adults over 20 years old.

Who should not get Botox treatments?

It should not be used on individuals with an infection at the treatment site or known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin or any components in Botox. If the treatment site is inflamed or if the muscles at the site are suffering from weakness or atrophy, then it may be contraindicated. Our highly skilled medical professionals will assess the area prior to treatment.

What areas can I treat with Botox?

Most areas of the face, including the area near the eyes, eyebrows, and forehead, are more commonly treated. The underarms and hands can also be treated to decrease sweat production.

How long does a Botox treatment take?

Treatments typically take 15 to 30 minutes.

How long does Botox last?

Treatments typically last 3-4 months.

What does it feel like to get a Botox treatment?

You will feel a slight pin prink and a little bit of pressure at the injection sites. Most individuals feel little to no pain.

Does getting a Botox treatment hurt?

Some individuals may feel slight discomfort upon injection; however, others may not feel anything. Some areas of the body may be more sensitive than others.

Is Botox safe?

It has been used successfully for over 30 years. Our highly skilled medical professionals will use artful precision to inject safely.

What are the side effects of Botox?

Side effects may include bruising at the injection site. Eyelid or eyebrow drooping, and headache have occurred in less than 3% of cases.

When will I see results from Botox?

You will typically see results within 7-10 days of your treatment. In some cases, results can be seen as soon as 3-5 days after treatment.

How long will my Botox treatment last?

Usually, a treatment lasts up to 4 months. Additional treatments will be required to continue seeing results.

What kind of results can I expect from Botox?

Once the treatment takes effect, you will notice a decrease in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. If more correction is desired, a follow-up treatment or alternative treatment may be necessary.

Will my results look natural?

Completely! For your first treatment, we use a conservative approach and start with the recommended dosage based on the treatment area. This ensures that your treatment has the best results possible. If further correction is desired, then a follow-up appointment can be scheduled two weeks after the initial treatment.

Do I need time to recover?

You won’t need any recovery time; however, do not get a massage, lay on the treated area, drink alcohol, or workout on the same day as your treatment.

Will I need follow-up care after Botox?

You shouldn’t need any follow up care! If you desire more correction after 2 weeks have passed, then please schedule a follow-up appointment!

How many Botox treatments will I need?

Most individuals need treatments every 3-4 months to maintain results. If this is your first treatment, we will use conservative treatment, and you may require a follow-up treatment in 2 weeks if more correction is desired.

Can I get Botox before an event or travel?

We recommend getting your treatment at least 2 weeks before a special event in order to allow results to develop and for any bruising or acne at the treatment site to heal. You can travel immediately after your treatment! Avoid massages, facials, drinking alcohol, or exercising the same day of your treatment.

What is the difference between Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport?

They are all similar neuromodulators that relax the muscle. Botox is made by Allergan, Xeomin by Merz, and Dysport by Galderma.

Are there any discounts available?

Allergan has a free rewards program called Brilliant Distinctions that can be used for instant discounts. Some restrictions may apply, so please discuss this with one of our team members at Skin Works Medical Spa in Torrance.
