Dermal Filler

A New Look For You
Define & Redefine With Fillers

What is Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are a fabulous cosmetic solution that can help you achieve a more youthful, radiant, and refreshed appearance! They work by injecting a particular substance, such as hyaluronic acid, into the skin to fill in any hollow areas, smooth out wrinkles and fine lines, and enhance facial features such as lips, cheeks, and jawline.

Imagine having plumper, fuller lips or a more defined jawline without going under the knife! Dermal fillers offer a non-surgical alternative to cosmetic surgery. The results can last anywhere from several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler used and the treated area.

DERMAL FILLERS & MASTER INJECTORS IN TORRANCE

Dermal fillers are soft tissue fillers that cosmetic doctors inject into the skin at different depths to help fill in facial wrinkles, provide facial volume, and augment facial features, restoring a smoother appearance. Most wrinkle fillers are temporary because your body will eventually absorb them. At Skin Works Medical Spa, we use dermal fillers to change or diminish the adverse effects of aging, the environment, and gravity.  To that end, we proudly offer dozens of facial injections and dermal filler options such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®,  Radiesse®, Belotero, and Bellafill®.

HOW LONG DO FILLERS LAST?

During your free consultation, we will evaluate the areas that concern you and educate you on possible options. You will learn about the treatments, likely results, possible complications, and follow-up care that you may need. Depending on your beauty goals, your provider gives you different dermal filler options that can last between 6 to 24 months.

DO FILLERS HURT?

If you decide to get a treatment on the same day, we offer you a free medical-grade numbing cream upon your request before treatment. Most areas do not require numbing cream, and treatments are typically comfortable; however, they can be mildly painful if pain-sensitive. At Skin Works, our first choice of numbing is nerve blocking because of its natural effects; however, numbing creams are always available.

FAQ

Tap on a question to see more!

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable cosmetic treatments that enhance facial features by adding volume and smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. They contain a substance, such as hyaluronic acid, that is injected into the skin to improve the appearance and achieve a more youthful look. The results of dermal fillers are typically temporary and can last several months to over a year. As a result, dermal fillers are a popular non-surgical alternative to cosmetic surgery.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are generally considered safe when performed by a qualified and experienced healthcare professional. However, as with any medical procedure, there is a risk of side effects, such as swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site, as well as more severe but rare complications, such as infection, nerve damage, and uneven results. Therefore, it's essential to consider the potential risks and benefits before undergoing any cosmetic procedure and to discuss your concerns and medical history with your healthcare provider.

How should I prepare for my dermal filler treatment?

To prepare for your dermal filler treatment, it is important to follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider. This may include avoiding alcohol, blood-thinning medications, and certain supplements before the procedure. In addition, it would be best to inform your provider of any allergies, medical conditions, or medications you are taking.

How long does will my treatment take?

The duration of a dermal filler treatment can vary depending on the type of filler used, the area being treated, and the extent of the treatment. On average, a dermal filler treatment can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. However, some treatments may take longer, while others may be completed in a shorter time. Your healthcare provider can give you a more accurate estimate of the treatment time during your consultation.

How does filler injection feel?

The sensation of a dermal filler injection can vary from person to person and depending on the area being treated. Some people report feeling a slight pinch or pressure at the injection site, while others may experience more discomfort. Your healthcare provider may apply a numbing cream or a cold pack to help reduce any discomfort during the procedure. The sensation is temporary and should go away shortly after the treatment.

Is getting a dermal filler injection painful?

The level of pain associated with a dermal filler injection can vary depending on the individual and the area being treated. Some people report mild discomfort or pressure at the injection site, while others may experience more significant pain. The pain level can also depend on the type of filler used and the technique used by the healthcare provider.

How soon can I expect results?

The results of a dermal filler treatment are often immediate and can be seen right after the procedure. However, it is common for there to be some initial swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site, which can temporarily obscure the final result. These side effects usually subside within a few days to a week.

What kind of results can I expect from dermal fillers?

Depending on the areas you want to treat, you can expect to see a variety of amazing results. Injectable fillers create a “fuller” appearance. Fillers can be effective to treat under the eyes to raise the area and get rid of the bags under your eyes that make you look tired.

Will I need time to recover after injectable fillers?

Some people may want a few days to recover from minor swelling and bruising.

How many treatments will I have to get?

During the consultation, a skillful medical professional will assess the area to determine how many treatments you may need. If more than one treatment is necessary, we will discuss it with you.

Are injectable fillers permanent?

Fillers are temporary and must be touched up in order to maintain results. Injectable fillers such as Juvederm Ultra, Restylane, and Belotero typically last up to 6 months while Voluma can last up to 2 years.

Will my results look natural?

When fillers are done right, they will look natural and take years off your appearance. You can expect your treatments to be done by a skillful medical professional to enhance your features in a natural and subtle way.

The most common side effects of Injectable fillers are at the injection site, redness, tenderness, pain, firmness, and/or itching. On rare occasions, a local allergic reaction may occur.
