Assess movement first
Muscle strength, brow position, asymmetry, compensatory movement and prior treatment history all affect the plan.
Wrinkle-relaxing injections for expression lines and selected facial-balancing concerns at Skin Works Medical Spa in El Segundo. Your provider assesses movement, muscle strength and your desired result before recommending the brand and amount.
Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Jeuveau® all reduce targeted muscle activity, but they are distinct prescription products with product-specific potency units. A useful consultation starts with the result you want, then works backward through anatomy, movement pattern, product choice and a dose that can realistically produce that result.
Muscle strength, brow position, asymmetry, compensatory movement and prior treatment history all affect the plan.
Your provider should explain the amount recommended to achieve your goal. If you choose substantially less than the recommendation, the expected result may change.
Botulinum-toxin potency units are specific to each product. Dysport units in particular should not be treated as if they equal BOTOX units.
A follow-up is most useful after the neurotoxin has had time to take effect, when symmetry and residual movement can be evaluated properly.
Current Skin Works bundle pricing is shown below. Treatment is still prescribed and administered only after medical evaluation.
The most established brand in the category. BOTOX® Cosmetic is FDA-approved for temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines and platysma bands in adults. Other aesthetic uses may be off-label.
Dysport® is FDA-approved for temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults under 65. Its potency units are product-specific and are not interchangeable with BOTOX®, Xeomin® or Jeuveau® units.
Xeomin® contains incobotulinumtoxinA without accessory proteins. Current U.S. aesthetic labeling includes moderate to severe glabellar lines, horizontal forehead lines and lateral canthal lines in adults.
Jeuveau® is an FDA-approved prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs product for temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults. Other aesthetic areas are off-label and require provider judgment.
Current new-patient treatment credits are available for BOTOX®, Dysport® and Xeomin®. The provider still determines whether the product is appropriate and how many units your treatment actually requires. Additional units are priced separately when needed.
Product matters, but assessment, dose planning, placement and communication are what determine whether the treatment fits your face and your goal.
Neurotoxin treatment is performed by qualified clinical providers. The treatment plan is based on facial anatomy and movement rather than a generic area package.
The source policy includes a follow-up within 21 days so the original result can be evaluated after the medication has taken effect.
Skin Works is an Allergan Diamond practice and offers established U.S. brands including BOTOX®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Jeuveau®.
Some areas below are FDA-approved for specific products; others are common off-label aesthetic uses. Exact dose is determined by the provider after examination.
Horizontal expression lines created by frontalis movement. Treatment should be balanced with brow position and surrounding muscle activity.
Vertical lines between the brows created by glabellar muscle activity. This is an FDA-approved cosmetic treatment area for all four brands, within each product’s labeling.
Lines at the outer eye area created by orbicularis oculi movement. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Xeomin® have FDA-approved cosmetic indications here; other brands may be used off-label.
Strategic treatment of selected brow-depressor muscles may subtly change brow position. This is technique- and anatomy-dependent.
Nasal expression lines may be treated with small, provider-selected doses when appropriate. This is generally an off-label aesthetic use.
A small-dose treatment around the upper lip can change lip show without adding filler. Placement and dose are deliberately conservative.
Neurotoxin can be used off-label for selected masseter concerns such as prominent muscle bulk or clenching. Medical jaw pain requires appropriate evaluation.
BOTOX® Cosmetic has an FDA-approved indication for platysma bands. Other neck uses and other brands may be off-label.
Selected upper-lip elevator muscles can be treated off-label in appropriate candidates. Over-treatment can affect smile dynamics.
The mentalis muscle can be treated off-label to soften dynamic chin texture when anatomy makes it appropriate.
Conservative off-label treatment of depressor muscles may subtly soften a downward pull at the mouth corners.
BOTOX® has an FDA-approved therapeutic indication for severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis that is inadequately managed with topical agents.
“I have been getting Botox for five years at different places and this was the best result I have ever had. Natural, even, and it lasted longer than usual. Already booked my next appointment.”
Michelle K., El Segundo“First time trying Dysport and I loved how fast it kicked in. Saw results in two days. My forehead looks smooth but I can still move it naturally. Will not go back to anything else.”
Ariana T., Manhattan Beach“I switched to Xeomin after another brand stopped working as well. The provider explained everything clearly and my results came back strong. Really appreciate that they carry all four brands.”
David M., HawthorneGeneral information only. Product selection and dosing require an individual medical assessment.
Your provider considers anatomy, muscle strength, prior response, treatment area, desired movement and brand preference. The four products use different potency assays, so their units should not be directly compared or converted as if they were the same product.
There is no responsible universal unit count for an individual face. Your provider should examine muscle strength and movement, explain the amount recommended to achieve your goal, and review the cost before treatment. Choosing fewer units than recommended can also change the expected result.
For cosmetic facial treatment, results commonly last several months, but duration varies by product, dose, area, muscle strength and individual response. Your provider can give a more useful estimate after seeing how you respond.
Onset and time to full effect vary by product and person. The result is usually assessed after the initial treatment effect has developed rather than immediately after injection.
Skin Works offers a complimentary follow-up within 21 days so the provider can assess symmetry, movement and the treatment result after the initial effect develops. Any additional treatment is based on the clinical assessment and the clinic’s current follow-up policy.
Yes, when clinically appropriate. The provider will determine timing and dosing for the new product. Botulinum-toxin potency units are product-specific and should not be converted by a simple fixed ratio.
Each product has specific FDA-approved indications. Licensed clinicians may also use prescription medications off-label when medically appropriate, but those uses are not the same as an FDA-approved indication for that product.
Most patients return to normal activities quickly, but temporary redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising can occur. Neurotoxins also carry important prescription-drug warnings and potential adverse effects. Follow the aftercare instructions given by your provider.
This phrase usually refers to treating dynamic expression lines before they become deeply visible at rest. It is an aesthetic strategy, not a separate FDA-approved indication. Whether it makes sense depends on your movement pattern and goals, not a specific age.
Current Skin Works online-store bundles are structured as consultation and treatment credits. Prescription neurotoxins are administered only after a licensed provider evaluates you and determines the treatment is appropriate.
Current Skin Works neurotoxin treatment-credit pages state a 12-month validity period and require medical evaluation and provider approval before treatment. Confirm the terms shown at checkout before purchasing.
